CNC Setter Operator
We are looking for an experienced CNC setter/operator preferably with experience of both milling and turning to join our small team.
What we do
Carbinium Engineering undertake a wide variety of work, often for the luxury marine sector. Everything we undertake has one thing in common – it’s made the highest standards we can achieve.

* We make things that our clients have designed.
* We design and make a custom product solution to meet a client’s needs.
Our minimum order quantity is one and we seldom make a hundred of anything. We specialise in quality not quantity.

Happy to set and run jobs on 3, 4 and 5 axis VMC’s. We have Haas and Mazak machines.
Ideally with experience of CNC turning.
We do a very small amount of manual turning. Experience of this would be a nice to have.
Happy to support and guide apprentices.

About Us
Carbinium Engineering are a small company based at the Scottow Enterprise Park in Badersfield. We specialise in the design, prototype and manufacture of one off and low volume, high quality products. Most of our work is for high value yacht builders but we also make parts for everything from Aerospace to Sub Sea. We even make puppet eye mechanisms for the Spitting Image TV show.
Carbinium Engineering currently have four CNC machines – two Haas CNC milling centres with 4th and 5th axis capabilities, a Haas CNC turning centre, and an SCM CNC routing centre. We also have a manual mill and lathe.
We want to recruit our first apprentice to work in the CNC machining side of our business. This is an excellent opportunity for an apprentice to join a growing company which undertakes a wide variety of work.
Main elements of the Apprenticeship
To be trained in house on all aspects of our work.
To attend college one day a week during term time for formal training.
To safely run the CNC machines under the supervision of our Manufacturing Manager.
To set up jobs, loading the correct tools and measure them with the tool pre-setters.
To utilise Renishaw probing for work offsets, part measurement and tool offsets.
To keep the machines and workshop, clean and tidy at all times.
To Check finished parts against 3D models and drawings.
To receive goods and despatch finished orders.
To become a key part of a small team in a growing business.
To reflect the values of the business in all interactions with clients, suppliers and visitors.
Qualifications
Maths, Science and English to GCSE grade 4-7.
Some prior experience of CNC machinery would be helpful, especially with Haas controls, but is not essential.
Ability to read technical drawings.
Computer literate.

• Confident to ask questions and check with others to prevent mistakes.
