Our Story

Ben Collett’s passion for sailing and the marine industry began at a very early age. By the age of fourteen he had a Saturday job sweeping up in the woodworking shop of a boatyard, and has been addicted to designing and making things ever since.

With many years experience in high quality boatbuilding, joinery and engineering, he founded Collett Marine Solutions in 2015 when he was approached by Quintessence Yachts to develop and prototype the Aston Martin AM37 speedboat.

Achieving this groundbreaking fully custom project, built to exceptional standards, required working with multiple suppliers. The project highlighted the wider need for a business focussed on the design and manufacture of low volume superyacht quality parts across a wide range of materials.

By 2019 the business had relocated to Norfolk and rebranded as Carbinium to reflect the focus on providing a one stop solution for the design and production of the highest quality products.

Although much of Carbinium’s work is for marine clients we also work with a diverse range of clients who want to tap into the broad capabilities that Carbinium offer.
